Stephenson's link-motion

Stephenson's link-motion

This valve-gear consists of a pair of eccentrics, for ahead and astern running, a slotted segmental guide carrying a block attached to the valve rod. Variation of the quadrants position makes either eccentric effective.

Stephenson's link-motion
The eccentric rods and the quadrant are visible on the picture as well as the lever for adjusting the position of the quadrant.
