The stoker is banking up the furnace, i.e., he packs embers and coals tight
together so they don't burn but smoulder. Next morning there will be sufficient
live coal to start up the fire again.
The reciprocating steam engine. The crosshead, eccentric and the reversing
motion links for the high pressure piston. The Flodman reversing link motion
works very much like the Klug reversing gear.
